About Urban Sketching World

Everyone loves a good existential question.

So, why does Urban Sketching World exist?

Perhaps the straightforward answer is to be the most comprehensive site about the art of urban sketching on the Internet.

But the more important answer is to encourage the pursuit of a regular art habit that helps us to slow waaaay down and take in the incredible world around us.

About Taria (founder of Urban Sketching World)

I’m Taria, a sketcher from the UK who has been bumbling around the world for the last few years pursuing creative adventures such as urban sketching but also things like silversmithing!

You can get a pretty solid idea of what I have been up to for the last few years from my brand new ebook, ‘Sketchy Adventures Around The World‘.

Sketchy Adventures Around the World Vol 1

This 60 page PDF covers the last 3 years of my travels with over 130 original ink and watercolour illustrations done on location in 15 different countries across 4 different continents.

In-Person Workshop – Morocco 2022

In March 2022 I will be teaching a 9-day workshop in Morocco, teaching a group all about the joys of urban sketching, travel sketching, keeping a travel journal and how sketching with ink and watercolour does not have to be intimidating.

If you want to learn more about my exciting partnership with Morocco Ecoway to bring this awesome watercolour sketching workshop to you, then check out the trip here.

Stay Connected With Me

If you want to see my face and hear my voice talking about all things urban sketching or demonstrating some of my techniques then go check out the Youtube channel. I post weekly videos designed to inspire and teach you all I know about sketching in ink and watercolour.

If you want to check out my regular sketches, then the best place to do that is Instagram: @lookingouttosee_

If you want to check out the urban sketches from around the globe then I share these on the Urban Sketching World Instagram feed.

You can also keep up to date with the latest developments and super-secret projects (like my intended participation and illustration of the 2021 Mongol Rally, a roadtrip from London to Mongolia in a tiny rubbish car that absolutely will break down multiple times) by joining my newsletter below.
