If you’ve watched my latest YouTube video, you’ll know I’ve shared a peek inside my sketching bag and talked through the art supplies I use most often when I’m out sketching on location. I get asked about my materials all the time, so I thought I’d put together this post with all the links in one place for you.
Below you’ll find a list of the pens, sketchbooks, watercolours, and other essentials I mentioned in the video — along with a few extra favourites I reach for regularly. I’ve included links to where you can find them online in case you’d like to check them out for yourself.
Note: Some of these are affiliate links, which means I may earn a small commission if you decide to make a purchase, at no extra cost to you. Thank you for supporting my work!

I fill my fountain pens with Platinum Carbon Ink.
Fineliners
Any brand is fine, just make sure the ink is waterproof, it usually states this on the barrel of the pen. These pens are often sold in sets of different line widths which can be useful to find your own preference of thickness. But equally you can buy them individually too. I tend to favour 0.3, 0.5 and perhaps 0.8 to thicken up lines.
